Brimstone Butterfly Doll

Memories of happy hours spent as a child with the warm sun on my back - butterflies fluttering in the garden borders. I was eager to learn more about the natural world around me but the thick, dusty books didn't appeal.

Inspire a love of our natural world and spark your child's imaginative play with a butterfly dolly - let them learn through play and develop a love of these beautiful winged creatures.

Each doll is made by hand the traditional way by a Waldorf inspired dollmaker, Lydia, in her home studio in Kent. Each doll is as individual as your child - as toys used to be.

The butterfly doll has detachable wings - simply pull the doll out of the soft scrunchie - and then the little doll could be a caterpillar!

With your butterfly is an accompanying double sided fact card - on the front is a botanical illustration showing the butterfly. Turn over the card and on the back are child-friendly facts to help them discover more and a size chart so you can see how big the butterfly is!

Each butterfly will arrive in a beautiful gift box with the fact card on the front - opening up this dolls will add charm to the gifting experience and making it a truly memorable moment - whilst being child friendly to open!

Butterfly wing span is 23 cm and the height of the caterpillar doll is 9.5 cm. Sizes are approximate.

Passionate about sustainability the wings are made from pure wool felt, with the doll having British sheep wool filling and soft cotton outer. When cleaning is necessary hand-washing is needed but as wool is naturally antibacterial this won't be as often as you'd think!

The wings are layers of felt individually cut by hand and then carefully machine appliquéd on for strength - not glue! Please note that because of this the stitches show through to the back of the wings - as can been seen in the photos.

CE marked. Recommended play age 2 to 12 years old - but my 14 year old adores hers!
